What is your involvement in the project?

As Creative Consultant, I’ll help to oversee and direct all creative aspects of the hotel’s interaction with potential customers and guests to ensure a cohesive brand experience not just online but also offline and in-person. This includes not just the logo and website, which I’ve designed, but also all branding and marketing touch points as well as the in-hotel brand aesthetic experience.

How did you come to know the team at Gem Mountain and what made you decide to work on the project?

I first met Michael in 2018 when he asked me to design the Emeralds.com website, and have been consulting for him ever since. I have really loved working with him and his diverse and knowledgeable team and I was excited to be a part of something that would benefit his team in Ratnapura and the local community.

Tell us a bit about your background and how it applies to the Gem Mountain Project.

As Creative Director and Designer, I’ve been responsible for helping to create aesthetic, usable experiences for brands, mostly in the luxury space, for the good part of 2 decades. Before that, I worked in luxury retail sales, and dealt directly with high net worth individuals who were always looking for exceptional luxury experiences so I understand the expectation and needs of this type of clientele. I’m excited to use this past experience in my work with Gem Mountain to make it the best experience possible for all.

What drew you to this project?

I’m very passionate about and motivated by any initiatives that care deeply about the local culture and environment and that seek to bring opportunity to a local economy. Michael’s passion to give back to the people of Ratnapura is both very heartening and inspiring. I’m excited to be a part of such a project.

What do you hope to bring to the project?

I’m dedicated to creating experiences that are not just aesthetically beautiful but also authentic, usable and inclusive. I’m hoping that the brand experience will make guests feel inspired, seen and at ease right from their very first interaction with Gem Mountain and throughout their entire stay.
